Blues great Stevie Ray Vaughan’s second posthumous release, “In the Beginning,” is a live performance from 1980 documenting the guitarist’s prefame roots. Recorded in a small club in the then 25-year-old’s hometown of Austin, Texas, the album features standards and a few tunes later found on Vaughan’s debut.
It’s essential for devotees, but casual fans would do better trying one of his later works.
