Best known to a wide audience for the 1980 funk classic “Funkin’ for Jamaica,” throughout the past several decades he has continued to straddle musical idioms that also include traditional to fusion to smooth jazz, R&B, world music, and even hip hop. All told, Browne has released a dozen albums with the most recent being 2016’s Legacy, and has worked with such prominent artists as Marcus Miller, Dave Grusin, Michael Jonzun & Maurice Starr, David Spradley & Ted Currier, Bobbi Humphrey, Ron Carter, Idris Muhammad, Bobby Lyle, Bob James, Joe Sample and Roy Ayers.
