Featured in TIR Episode 299 (2 parts): Trumpet player Hollie Farris, best known for several decades of recording and performing with the Godfather of Soul, Mr. James Brown! First connecting with Brown in the mid-1970s and parting ways for a few years along the way, he eventually became musical director and continued working with Soul Brother No. 1 right up until his 2006 death.
His recording career with Brown included latter hits like “Body Heat,” “Get Up Offa That Thing,” “Jam” and “The Spank.” Among his other credits is playing with Steve Winwood and appearing in his 1989 music video, “Roll With I,” and working with singer Joss Stone. This part also finds Farris’ sax-playing pal, Tom Pallardy, popping in to talk about their friendship and his new CD.
