Featured in TIR Episode 203 (Parts 1 & 2): R&B vocalist and composer Marva King, who since 1981 has distinguished herself as a solo artist, in-demand sessions singer and from 1997-2011 a member of Prince’s New Power Generation.
She can be heard on several Prince projects and shared the stage with him as well. Among the other well-known music stars she has recorded with are the Gap Band, Michael Jackson, Lionel Richie, Stephanie Mills, Bobby Brown, Phil Collins, Peabo Bryson, Diana Ross, Stevie Wonder, Jeffrey Osborne and Chaka Khan. She has also performed with Seal, Lenny Kravitz and The Isley Brothers, and co-wrote the hit, “Innocent,” which was a million-seller for the Whispers in 1990.
The most recent of King’s six solo albums, That Part, was released on her own label in 2019.
