Those amazing years included three consecutive No. 1 R&B albums with two more going top 5, as well as the classic hit songs “Once You Get Started,” “Sweet Thing,” “Dance Wit Me,” “At Midnight,” “Hollywood,” “Stay,” “Do You Love What You Feel,” “Ain’t Nobody,” and too many others to mention.
Maiden, who also worked extensively with Billy Preston, thrived in the years after Rufus, collaborating with artists such as Rene and Angela, Janet Jackson, the Isley Brothers, Lionel Richie, Sheila E, and Jeffrey Osborne, as well as jazz artists like Al Jarreau, George Duke, Jeff Lorber and Gerald Albright. He was also one of Prince’s favorite guitarists.
