Cameo and a cast of dozens — including trumpeter Miles Davis ― grind out infectious rhythms on Cameo’s new LP “Machismo.” This is a worthy follow-up to the band’s platinum “Word Up!” album. Group leader Larry Blackmon injects what he calls “black rock” with a distinctive and fun flavor that’s all Cameo.
Despite a couple of retreads, “Machismo” is one of 1988’s best records.
